TV Reviews: Heroes Reborn: S1E8: June 13th - Part Two

Future Noah decides to kill Erica but past Noah sees and follows him and prevents future Noah from killing Erica. She sees both of them in the hallway before being dragged to safety by future Noah’s sidekick. Sadly Erica is only hit in the leg. I’m sure that won’t completely alter the future or anything. Noah’s sidekick decides that working with Erica will be the best way to see his sister. Which he does and she does indeed allow him to see his sister who explains why this is the right thing to do. I’m still confused about how he survived the shadow down his throat or did that not happen in this reality?

Hiro gets stuck in Odessa and the show finally reveals how original Claire could die. Apparently Tommy can absorb powers and stole his mother’s power while she was in labor. Thanks “Heroes” for taking two seconds to explain something. Maybe the show is starting to get better. Now that Tommy has stolen Hiro’s power, the babies can’t be raised together. Hiro and Angela head off in different directions, trying to avoid each other and their past selves. Side note: How can Noah fix the present if Hiro’s powers have been stolen?

Harris sends one of his clones to follow future Noah after he sees them having a meeting in a room in the hospital. Noah, instead of immediately having his memory wiped, decides to wait until he gets back to the bomb site. Harris attacks penny-for-your-thoughts guy and holds Noah at gun point once again completing his task and surprising me.

Matt (remember matt from the original heroes? He could dive into people’s minds and extract information) is now working with Erica. He looks into Noah’s brain and sees that original Claire died in childbirth and right when he tries to get the information on the baby’s location, penny-for-your-thoughts guy sends a penny to his feet and he forgets everything. Harris gets easily knocked out by a briefcase (I honestly thought Harris finally did something right. I spoke too soon. Once again, he didn’t complete his task.) Matt lets Noah and penny-for-your-thoughts guy go and off they run.

Future Noah finds Hiro, who has spent the last few years raising Nathan (formerly Tommy). They are living happily with Hiro’s girlfriend/wife(I’m not sure which.) Nathan is excited to meet his grandfather and fulfil his destiny. The downside to his power is that he can only hold one power at a time after he absorbs them. Nathan grew up with Hiro and can use Hiro’s power at will. Nathan also sees his sister for the first time. The beginning of the running and the possible death of Hiro is shown in this episode. So much information, finally. Penny-for-your-thoughts guy takes all of Nathan’s memories of Hiro so that he doesn’t try to save him. This leaves only the memories of his mother. Noah is an idiot!!!!! He tells the whole story to his “sidekick” who is now working with Erica. Noah changes the future and doesn’t stop to make sure the main guy he trusted was still on his side. Rookie mistake. Quentin then calls Erica to let her know what’s going on and reveals everything that Noah just told him.

Finally this show is looking up. Joanne and Luke’s first kill was amazing. I didn’t think I would be so excited about this show but it is so good now! After suffering for so long, I’m seeing the light and it’s magnificent. The sheer rage that Joanna has against Evo’s is released as she kills one and the funniest part is he came to thank Luke for saving his life. Oh the irony. Joanne stabs him repeatedly with a pair of scissors and I’m living for her right now. Her whole hand is covered in his blood and the grin; perfection. Luke is trying to justify the murder and she’s just like I’m fine. This is a really great murderer origin story. Heroes has finally made me care about Joanna. She is the villain I’ve been waiting for and the look on her face gives me high hopes.

The Review:

This show has finally made me care about the people involved. Why wasn’t this episode one? I get that we had to build a rapport but come on. It has taken me eight episodes to care about these people but at least it’s starting to look up.

Final Score: 7/10
