Now that “The Angry Birds Movie” has graced the big screen and beat “Captain America: Civil War” in box office results over the weekend, there is reason to believe that this won’t be the last App inspired movie, and this new one is based off a game involving slicing as much fruit as you can.
Yes, that’s right, media sources report that a Fruit Ninja movie is in its early stages of development. The mobile game hit the App Store in 2010, and unlike Angry Birds, Fruit Ninja will be a live-action comedy, instead of an animated film.
In the last couple of years, movie companies have begun to take brands and turn them into films; for example, the very successful LEGO movie which hit theaters in February 2014, in contrast to Pixels (2015) which took old classic video games such as Snake, Pac-Man, Space Invaders, and more and turned it into an alien invasion story.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tripp Vinson will produce the movie under his Vinson Films, and J.P. Lavin and Chad Damiani have been selected to write the script for Fruit Ninja.
