TV Reviews: Homeland: S5E4: Why Is This Night Different?

The episode starts off with Saul and Allison having dinner at the table with a few people; they then pray for the safety of their family. We then see Carrie regain consciousness in an unknown location, tied up to a bed. She then sees Peter and realizes that he was the one trying to kill her. He informs her that he has no intention of killing her and cuts her loose only to tell her that Saul was the one who ordered her assassination but Carrie refuses to believe it.

We then see that persistent journalist, Laura, is trying to get in contact with a hacker who gave her falsified information. To do this, she enlists the help of another hacker known as Sevina who eventually gets in contact with the man who gave Laura the false files, only to have him deny falsifying the information.

In the next scene, Allison at some sort of safe house with Saul, setting up a meeting with a man named General Youssef. Allison tricks him into doing something in favor of the CIA. This Allison chick is a sneaky b****. You guys know exactly what I mean.

Peter fakes Carrie’s death and changes her appearance. He comes up with a plan to put her into hiding indefinitely but Carrie has a different idea. She still doesn't believe that Saul had her name put on a kill list. Her and Peter go to the location where he acquires a letter for his next target. This time, it is revealed that Peter is the target. An unknown man in car almost kills Peter when Peter gets out of his own car. Carrie rams her car into the assassin when he pulls out a gun. The assassin still manages to shoot Peter, wounding him. Peter then puts a few rounds into the would-be assassin; killing him. Before they leave, Carrie searches the dead corpse and finds a phone and heads to the hideout.

Carrie tends to Peter’s wounds once in the safety of the hideout before looking through the assassin’s phone. She dials the only number that is on the phone and is surprised when Allison answers. Bewildered, Carrie doesn't say anything and instead hangs up the phone.

We then see Allison at an airfield with Saul seeing General Youssef off on a plane. Seconds later, the plane explodes. Saul seems genuinely surprised but Allison doesn't seem too bothered by it. The episode then comes to a close.

The Review:

I guess we know who put a hit out on Carrie. The bigger question is why Allison wants Carrie dead. And why did she set up Peter to try and kill her. And how long before Saul finds out? And how long has she been a double agent?

This episode was cray-cray but in a good way. I knew all along that the weak level 1, Allison, was up to no good. I got a bad vibe from her the second this season started. I'm relieved that Peter didn't kill Carrie. I knew that he wouldn't.

I can't wait to see the tables turn on Allison. She doesn't know that Peter and Carrie are on to her. I just hope she doesn't try to hurt Saul because it's pretty obvious that the woman has no feelings what-so-ever. A plane exploded right in front of her and she didn't even blink an eye! Saul really needs to be more observant.

Final Score: 10/10 Power Ups
