KOEI TECMO America divulged some brand new details on pre-order bonuses and gameplay for the Attack on Titan video game. The video game is based on the highly popular anime of the same name and tries to capture the show’s large-scale and intense action. Also, new screenshots and two new trailers have been released to showcase the game’s non-stop game-play as well as cool new aesthetics. The game is scheduled to launch in North America and Europe on August 30, 2016.
"Attack on Titan" will be available for Playstation 4, X-box One, Playstation 3, PS Vita, and Microsoft Windows. The pre-order bonuses include “Cleaner’s Weapon and Costume” for Eren and Levi, as well as the “Mikasa Festival Costume” and Attack on Titan avatars to be used for the PlayStation Network. In Europe, Koei Tecmo will release a Treasure Box limited edition for PlayStation 4 alongside the release of the standard version exclusively through Centresoft. The treasure box features an official scouting report: an art book showcasing characters and their bios, the different weapons, and environments the game has to offer, as well as an insight into various parts of the game. The box also includes 6 pin badges, the Original Soundtrack, a muffler towel, Digital download code for an alternative special costume for Armin and a copy of A.O.T. Wings of Freedom. In regards to a Treasure Box edition outside of Europe, a representative for Koei Tecmo of America said: “At this time we have nothing to announce in regards to a limited edition of Attack on Titan for North America”
The new game looks very promising with game-play that encompasses the magnitude of the catastrophic atmosphere and fast-paced action from the anime. The game will feature gear and weapons from the show. Also featured will be a unique fighting system because when players fight the Titans they will apparently not be alone. Up to four non-playable characters can be recruited to fight alongside the player, and can be commanded to carry out attacks and support.
The game also boasts a unique targeting system as players uses the Omni-Directional Mobility Gear to latch onto Titans. After latching on they are able to aim at which limb they wish to attack. For the killing blow, players will want to target a part of the Titans neck (the nape) aka their critical weak spot, to ensure optimal damage.
So whether you’re a fan of the show or not this game looks to be an authentic and truly heart-pounding action-packed thrill ride.
