The hype train just keeps on chugging as Zack Stentz, director of Thor, Agent Cody Banks, and the new Power Rangers film, has confirmed his involvement in the new Warner Bros. superhero flick. In a recent interview on “Fat Man on Batman with Kevin Smith and Marc Bernardin”, guest screenwriter Zack Stentz seemingly confirmed the Booster Gold project, along with creative team’s involvement in it. It seems that producer Greg Berlanti (a head honcho for D.C) could be producing and maybe directing the film as well. Zack recently subbed in for Greg to write an episode for the Flash (“The Runaway Dinosaur”) after Greg’s child was born. During the interview, I thought that it was going to be a T.V show at first because of the pseudo hush-hush talk but using one’s context clues it can easily be deduced that there is a Booster Gold film in the works.
Booster Gold is incredibly entertaining, as the character is very funny and delightfully arrogant. Originally a security guard form the future, who nabs a bunch of superhero weaponry and goes to the present to not only fight crime but to soak up tons of attention and fame as well use his knowledge of the future to get rich ( truly noble). In the new project, he is also rumored to be featured alongside his comic book pal the Blue Beetle (Ted Korn). In the comics, these two have tons of comedic fun and pack a lot of charisma. I would describe the Blue Beetle as a mix between Adam West Batman, Iron Man and Conan O’ Brien.
This also leads me to believe that the D.C universe will try to go in a different and more enjoyable direction. I also think this is in part due to the failure that was Dawn of Justice.
