No, the new villain isn’t Zack Snyder. Apparently the new Justice League Villain will be Steppenwolf. It seemed that Dawn of Justice had set up the powerhouse Darkseid as the villain for the film, but apparently Snyder and the studio decided to go a different direction. Birth Movies Death reported the change but also reported that Darkseid does play a part in the film but that he’s not the main villain. While this is newsworthy and exiting we should all remember that this could be a rumor; Birth Movies Death has reliable sources within the DC Universe, however, we have yet to hear an official confirmation form D.C. Interestingly enough, it would explain why, on the Monday after its debut, Warner Bros. released a deleted scene of Lex Luthor interacting with a hologram of whom is assumed to be Steppenwolf (Even though he looks nothing like he does in the comics). This could imply Luthor wasn’t talking about Darkseid towards the end of the film, and instead was talking about Steppenwolf. According to the rumor, Darkseid is supposedly set to take a bigger role in Justice League part 2 and other D.C universe films. So Steppenwolf could just be an Appetizer, after all, in the comics, he is a subordinate of Darkseid. While I was not a fan of Dawn of Justice I did think that the film posed some interesting future setups and I can see here that they possibly have a lot in store.
In the comics, Steppenwolf is Darkseid’s uncle and holds a coveted spot amongst his elite. Both are also natives of the destructive planet Apokolips. Steppenwolf is also an immortal with superhuman strength, speed, endurance, and reflexes thanks to him being from Apokolips. Aside from his physical attributes he is also a brilliant tactician and military leader within Darkseid’s ranks
