After raving reviews and outstanding box office numbers of “Captain America: Civil War,” what other excellence could the Marvel Universe give to the masses? Yes, “Xmen: Apocalypse” is gracing the big screen Friday May 27, but all people seem to be talking about now is the Black Panther’s appearance in Civil War and his self-starring movie coming out in 2018. In “Civil War,” Chadwick Boseman plays the role of the Black Panther, his real name T’Challa who is the prince of the fictitious African country
of Wakanda. Wakanda rules is a wealthy, self-sufficient country, and the most technologically advanced in the world, and also produces Vibranium—the powerful metal used for Captain America’s shield. When it was released last year by Marvel Studios that Chadwick Boseman would be playing the African-American superhero, the growing excitement from fans and Hollywood was overwhelming. Some thought Boseman would only get small airtime, but the Black Panther played a very substantial role in this Marvel Universe movie hit for this being his first appearance in any of the Avengers movies. As of May 12, according to The Hollywood Reporter, we have heard talk of two heavy hitting Hollywood black actors, Lupita Nyong’o and Michael B. Jordan. Nyong’o has a rocket career in Hollywood since she played as Patsey in “12 Years a Slave,” and was in the seventh Star Wars blockbuster “The Force Awakens” as Maz Kanata, and many other films as a voice actor. Now, there is a high potential for the beautiful Lupita to play in the upcoming and long-awaited “Black Panther” movie. The Hollywood Report remarks that Nyongo’s character details have not be released as of yet, but she will be playing the Panther’s love interest in the film. And if that wasn’t enough the rising African American actor, Michael B. Jordan, who played in his breakout film “Fruitvale Station,” the Fox Studios reboot of “Fantastic Four” as Johnny Storm, and in Creed, as Apollo Creed’s son, Adonis, will be playing a role in the movie. Sources (THR) have not confirmed what Jordan’s role will be, but it is rumored to be a villain.
Black Panther is set to be released on the big screen February 16, 2018.
