New Civil War Prequel Focus on Inhuman Ulysses

A new prequel has been announced for Marvel’s “Civil War”. This prequel will star a new Inhuman named Ulysses, not to be confused with villain Klaw (real name Ulysses Klaw), is getting a special 3-issue series telling his origin story. Ulysses has the power to see the future that was given to him by the Terrigen mists floating across the planet. Apparently, Ulysses is also under the tutelage of Inhuman Karnak, who has the power to see and exploit the flaw in anything. Ulysses is evidently the cause of the Civil War (ironic considering the name). First introduced in Saturday's Free Comic Book Day one-shot, Civil War II: Ulysses will be a digital-first, Marvel Infinite Comic prequel, unfolding the precognitive Inhuman's time leading up to the present. According to series writer Al Ewing, Ulysses is one of the recently powered NuHumans.

In an interview with Blastr, Ewing explains that he and artists Jefte Paolo and Karl Kesel's story sets the stage for the gargantuan conflict. "Essentially, the war is over whether or not the heroes should be using his powers, and what for," Ewing noted. "But in order to even get to that part, he has to learn how to use his abilities, which is where our Infinite Comic comes in. It's a prequel of sorts; we're following Ulysses as he's taken to the Tower of Wisdom, a sort of Inhuman temple of learning, for want of a better term - to be trained by Karnak, whose Inhuman ability is to see the flaw in all things. Karnak's training methods might be more than Ulysses can handle, though." Ulysses and Karnak are both Inhumans, who for those who don’t know, are a race of superhumans that were created after experiments were done on them by aliens called the Kree.

This Ulysses character gets more interesting by the day and I can’t wait to see his overall involvement in the storyline as well as his relationships with other characters.
