The anime adaptation of the "Ace Attorney" series is currently underway. The charming new series has stuck very closely to its video game source material, and now is getting a DVD and blu-ray release.
However, while reactions to the anime have been somewhat favorable, for those who have not played the games, it has been a mixed bag; the outrageous and over the top tone of some of the courtroom antics may be a bit surprising.
Even though we are only at episode 5 in the series, the DVD set will contain 13 episodes on 3 discs. The limited edition release will also be comprised of a soundtrack, a special case, a booklet, and an opening and ending sequence without credits. There is no news on whether it will be released on Blu-Ray and DVD in any languages other than Japanese.
The series is intent on following the plots of the first two games, which follow the courtroom escapades of ace attorney Phoenix Wright. In relation to the show and the games, we are now up to the third case in the series. Based on the games, the fourth case is a plot heavy critical juncture in the series.
So be on the look within the year for the DVD release of Ace Attorney.
